My art practice flows as a meditation on the mysteries and metaphysics hovering around imaging technologies. I find myself exploring ideas around memory, documentation, narrative and image capture - how we record who we are in our time.

These lines of enquiry have found their various forms in paint, installation, drawing, print and photography. There are themes of removal, of distance and reformulation threaded through my work. At the moment, I am working on a body of paintings exploring the psychology of perception – what we bring to what we see.

I am a graduate of Sociology & Politics and Italian from the University of Galway and gained a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art from The School of Design and Creative Arts, ATU, Galway. Upon graduation, I was awarded the AIB Graduate of the Year in Paint, Galway City Council Emerging Artist Awards and my work was selected for the RDS Visual Arts Awards.

My practice has benefited recently from being awarded an all ACCESS place on the RHA School Painting Mentorship programme as it has from my mentorship with the TURPS Banana School in London.

Over the years, my artwork has been selected for juried shows including the prestigious Columbia Threadneedle Prize, Mall Galleries, London, the Pallas Periodical Review, TULCA, Claremorris Open, RHA Annuals, RUA Annuals and shortlisted for the Thames & Hudson, 100 Painters of Tomorrow, London.

Solo and three person shows have included publicly funded spaces such as Galway Arts Centre and commercial galleries such as Claremorris Gallery as well as independent artist run spaces and pop-up artist organised exhibitions.

There are paintings and drawings of mine held in private, international collections and in the public collections of Galway City Council and the OPW.

A professional member of Visual Artists Ireland, I have also been a recipient of a Culture Ireland Travel Award, an Arts Council Ireland Agility Award and Galway City Council Individual Artist Bursaries.

My studio is based in Galway in the West of Ireland where I live with my son and my husband, author Mike McCormack.
